この龍原寺の三重塔は、太子塔ともよばれ聖徳太子を祀る塔です。
浄土宗総本山知恩院の末寺で、慶長5年（1600年）に創建されました。当時の領主だった稲葉右京貞通公が、船で下向してきた円誉上人に高徳を感じ、現在の地である龍ヶ渕にお寺を創ったのがはじまりです。九州に２つしかない江戸期の木造三重塔で、県指定の文化財に指定されています。
軒下の柱との境には、小さな鬼の像がユニークな表情で屋根を支えています。
