吉弘楽が行われることで有名な神社です。吉弘楽は、毎年旧暦の６月１３日（現在は７月の第４日曜日）に行われます。由来は南北朝時代に戦勝・五穀豊穣・虫害防除などを祈願して始まったと言われています。総勢４９人で行われる太鼓打ちは、立烏帽子・兜・陣笠をかぶり、腰蓑にワラジを履いた楽人が旗差物を背中に差すなど中世の武士を思わせる出で立ちで、太鼓を打ち鳴らしながら荘重かつ勇壮に舞います。１時間ほどですべての演目を終わると、旗差物の先につけた御幣が氏子に配られ、氏子はそれを持ち帰り水田に立てて虫封じのお守りにするのです。１９９６年に国の重要無形民俗文化財に指定されました。
