『国宝 臼杵石仏』に隣接する石仏公園には、四季折々の花々が咲き誇ります。
中でも7月～8月にかけては、大輪のハスの花が咲き誇りその様子はさながら極楽浄土のようです。
大きな緑の葉の間に、美しく妖艶な花弁が光を灯すように浮き上がる様子は、なんとも神秘的！
蓮は夜明けとともにゆっくりと開花するため、そのピークは朝の8時～9時とちょっと早め。
この美しさは早起きしてでも見る価値ありです。
