大分市大在地区では、平成18年から大分市地域まちづくり活性化事業の一環として「大在コスモスふれあい広場事業」に取り組んでいます。
毎年、地元住民や園児たちがコスモスの種まきを行い、秋には20万本ものコスモスが咲き誇ります。
美しいコスモスをバックに大野川橋梁を列車が通過する様子は必見です。
コスモスの見頃は、10月下旬～11月上旬頃です。
