元和4年に藩主中川公が、祈念所として建立した観音寺へ続く参道を登る途中、右側に積まれた自然石の上に石造十六羅漢は並んでいます。この十六羅漢は、仏法を大切に守ることを誓った16人の仏弟子を指すと言われています。
点在する羅漢像はそれぞれに表情が違い、ひとつひとつ見比べてみるのも楽しみの一つです。
石段を登りきった上に「恋愛成就」として有名な愛染堂があります。
