大分市の南に位置する戸次（へつぎ）本町。昔から大野川沿いの交通の要所として重視され、江戸時代には城下町と対置される在郷の中心として形成された日向街道道筋の在町でした。現在も江戸時代から戦前にかけて建てられた歴史的建築物が現存・活用され、白壁の家が建ち並ぶ通りを歩けば、江戸時代へタイムスリップしたような感覚を味わうことができます。地区内「帆足本家」は、幕末から明治にかけて繁栄を極めた酒造所で、酒蔵内を自由に見学することができます。併設のカフェ桃花流水は、明治の蔵を修復した温かい雰囲気のカフェ。季節のパスタやスイーツ、天然酵母のピザほか地元の食材を使った料理が味わえます。トマトベースのパエリア｢桃花流水｣風は、豊のしゃもの旨味が凝縮されています。
