渓谷美が見事な玖珠川・鳴子川流域。
その中でも特に新緑や紅葉、滝の景観が美しい渓谷として知られるのが「九酔渓」です。
玖珠川流域の両岸約2kmに渡って断崖絶壁が続き、モミやツガ、カツラなどの原生林が広がっています。ヘアピンカーブが連続しているため、別名「十三曲がり」とも呼ばれています。
紅葉の名所としても有名で、見頃を迎える11月上旬になると、多くの観光客で賑わいます。峠の展望台のほか、日本一の人道大吊橋「九重“夢”大吊橋」からも眺めることができます。
