「どぶろく祭り」が行われることで有名な神社です。和銅3年（710）に始まったとされ、１３００年も続いています。どぶろくの製造は法律で禁止されていますが、九州では唯一どぶろく製造が認められています。開催は毎年10月17、18日で氏子たちのよって仕込まれたどぶろくを神に捧げ、五穀豊穣の感謝を表します。どぶろく祭りの中のイベントとして、「鬚自慢コンクール」があります。
