香下ダムは、昭和４９年に着手し、平成７年に完成しました。ダム周辺は森林に囲まれ、景色の綺麗なところにあります。吊り橋を渡ると展望台があり、ダム全体を見渡すことができます。また、景色を眺めながら、車や徒歩でダムの周りをグルッと一周することも出来ます。春には桜が咲き、多くの人が花見に訪れます。夏には湖畔祭りが行われ、カヌーやウエイクボード体験が出来たり、花火が打ち上げられて賑わいます。
