津久見の桜の名所のひとつである青江ダム。災害防止と農業用水の確保を目的に作られ、昭和53年に完成しました。
毎年3月下旬～4月上旬頃には、ソメイヨシノが青江ダム公園内を彩り、山々ではあたり一面にヤマザクラが広がるなど2種類の桜を1度に楽しめる絶好のお花見スポットです。
青江ダム公園には、屋外用のステージがあり、毎年春には「山桜まつり」が開催されています。
