「的山荘」は大正4年に、大分県杵築市山香町の「馬上金山」の経営者であった成清博愛翁の別荘として建築されました。
敷地面積約3670坪、建坪約247坪の別荘は別府湾を見下ろす小高い丘の上に建てられた和風建築の粋をつくしたものです。
