「犬のおまわりさん」の作詞で有名な佐藤義美の生家跡地です。現在は「佐藤義美公園」として記念碑などが建てられた静かな場所です。佐藤義美は明治38年（1905年）に大分県直入郡岡本村（現竹田市）に生を受けました。公園内の童謡碑には、初期の代表作『月の中』（童謡）が本人自筆で記されています。佐藤義美記念館と一緒に訪れ、佐藤義美の世界に浸ってみて下さい。
